House Renos

The roof is now almost finished. It's finally starting
to look like a house again. The snow is melting
today, and I'm getting excited thinking about
being able to landscape in 2 or 3 months!

Riding Lessons

Today the girls had their first riding lesson with
Sarah Southwell from Dacotah Performance Horses.

Peyton did awesome and stayed focused the
entire 2 hours! Here she is on Scooter.

Have a happy life, Molly!

So, after a brief discussion we decided Molly
needed a new home. I put her up for sale on
Pembina Valley Online Thursday evening, and 24hrs
later she was gone.
And yes folks, if you really want to, you can fit
a pony in the back of a minivan. Just ask Aimee!

More Horsey Stuff

Today I decided to see how far I could get saddling
Dazz. Nothing bothers this guy (which may prove
to be a bad thing down the road)! Within 10 min,
he let me put the blanket and the saddle on him,
and he couldn't have cared less!

Gyp and Dazz

Molly. I will never forget what the announcer
said at one of our 4-H gymkhanas, "Parents -
if you hate your kids, get them a pony!".
I don't hate my kids, but that sentiment is so true ;)

More from Peyton

Today she asked us "Did you know we have taste
bugs on our tongue? They help us taste our food!"
Kindergarten sure is paying off!

Peytonisms

We've always said we need to write down the
things Peyton says, as most times, they are
hilarious and off the wall. Lately, she has been
obsessed with what kind of meat she is eating;
cow, pig or chicken. It's never 'a hamburger',
rather 'cow on a bun'. Tonight as I was making
her a ham sandwich for school lunch, she refers
to it as a 'pig sandwich'. Oh, what a kid!

Horse Training

I've decided I need a new challenge in my life.
Starting this past weekend, Aimee and I began to
saddle break these two. Babe (on the right) is
almost 4 and is green broke. But up until now, has
never worn a bridle. After 4 days, we were
successful! Instead of tossing her head or trying
to push us over, she lowers her head and holds it nice
and still while I put the bridle on. As for Dazz,
we'll just start slow, getting him used to the tack.

As some of you may know, my 14 year old
daughter loves watching the Food Network. She
has been begging to make us supper for the
past few days and Curt finally took her shopping
last night. This is what greeted me when I got
home from work today :)

Southern fried chicken, pretty darn good!

She did attempt a 'slushie pie'...would have been
better if she had added sugar to balance out
all the lime! (she knew this after she had to choke
it down too!) To reward her for all her effort,
we told her that she could make supper every night
from now on!
